  • Dwight Eisenhower was born David Dwight Eisenhower
  • His mother inverted the first two names stating there were too many Davids in the family
  • His nickname was Ike, and ironically each of the Eisenhower boys were called by the same salutation
  • Mr. Eisenhower was surprised when he received notification he was accepted into West Point, because he had applied to the Naval Academy
