- Jackson was the first to ride on a
railroad train, June 6, 1833, when he traveled on a B&O train
in Maryland. His predecessor John Quincy Adams made the same
trip earlier, but not as a seated president
- Jackson killed Charles Dickinson in
a duel at Harrison's Mills, KY, May 30, 1806
- Dickinson made adverse remarks concerning
his wife Rachel, to which Jackson responded with a challenge
by pistols
