Presidential Death in Office
- At his inauguration Harrison spoke
for over two hours in a blinding rainstorm without a hat or top
coat and died of pneumonia
- It was an ironic ending for a man
who studied medicine for a year at Penn University
- He was the first of two presidents
who died in the White House proper [Zachary Taylor] and the first
to lie in state in Washington, DC
- Benjamin Harrison, his grandson, was
elected the 23rd president in 1888
