Rockefeller was the richest man to serve as vice president
- In 1958 he was elected governor of
New York and served there until his vice presidency
- He turned down a bid for the second
spot on the ticket by Richard Nixon in 1960 and then by Democrat
Hubert
Humphrey in 1968
- He tried unsuccessfully for the presidential
nomination in 1960, 1964 and 1968
- Rocky always seemed out of touch with
the average American, and once stated that the average family
income in the United States was $100,000
- When he was asked his opinion of James
Bond - 007, he asked how many delegates he had at the convention
and how could he get his support
- Many foundations have been instigated
