- With the death of Garret Hobart in
the first McKinley administration, a number of names were suggested
as a running mate in 1900, none of which was Roosevelt
- Although Republican bigwigs didn't
want Roosevelt as the vice presidential nominee, he was nominated
on the first ballot when he entered the convention waving hello
to the crowd with the hat that he wore with the Rough Riders
- Within a year he became the president
upon the assassination of President McKinley in 1901 Presidential

- Roosevelt was a reformer and a man
of action so he found the vice presidency boring and often nodded
off during sessions President Teddy Roosevelt
- He himself admits he may have been
one of the worst presiding officers in the senate
- Claiming he was bored and had too
